Equity Methods was a sponsor of this year’s Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge, an esports competition empowering university student to sharpen their Excel skills by completing cases modeled after real-life scenarios.
Over 3,400 students participated in the competition, which concluded on December 2 with the in-person finals hosted at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. It will also be broadcast on ESPNU on December 13 at 7pm ET.
During the competition, students participated in monthly challenges related to data analysis, excel modeling, and business analysis. These challenges were accompanied with walk-through videos to help the students deepen their understanding of Microsoft Excel. After the monthly cases, students put their skills to the test during the competition rounds.
The finals consisted of questions and case studies evaluated by the MECC. As a program sponsor, Equity Methods created a series of cases about equity compensation for the students to engage with.
The University of Arizona took home the top team title. As for individual finalists, Patrick Chatain took first place, followed by Pak Ming Yip and Benjamin AT.
