“I’m a teacher at heart — always happy to field questions and help clients understand, whether it’s at a high level or deep in the details.”
David is a managing director at Equity Methods and leads the firm’s HR advisory and valuation practices. He’s an expert in compensation design and modeling, proxy best practices, and fair value measurement and accounting under ASC 718. Other areas of expertise include corporate transactions, equity award modifications, and employee stock purchase plans.
Since joining the firm in 2009, David has managed many of the practice’s largest and most complex engagements. These span from helping pre-IPO companies prepare their equity programs for IPO to supporting compensation decisions and accounting policy in some of the largest corporate transactions in the US.
As a collaborator, David aims to co-create solutions with clients. That involves blending deep subject-matter expertise with pragmatism, an ability to navigate different personalities and objectives, and a determinedly plain-English approach to deliverables. David also emphasizes user experience so that clients can make informed decision about their compensation plans with minimal friction.
David’s role as a practice leader spans human capital responsibility for a team of approximately 20 professionals. He also plays a leadership role in numerous internal training and mentoring programs. David is a regular speaker on compensation topics at national conferences and is one of Equity Methods’ most prolific authors. He serves on Arizona State University’s finance advisory board and is a Certified Equity Professional (CEP).
David holds a BS in finance and a BS in economics, both from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University.
