Vitor Costa is an Economist in the Valuation and HR Advisory practice at Equity Methods. As a valuation expert, Vitor helps clients with the expense recognition of various equity compensation instruments, including options and TSR awards, employing Monte Carlo simulations, lattice, and Black-Scholes models. In Pay Equity projects, Vitor ensures that the parity estimates are statistically sound and comply with regulatory statutes. When pay gaps are identified and remediation is needed, Vitor works closely with clients to design optimal adjustment plans.
Vitor earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University, where his research leveraged causal inference techniques to measure the effects of mergers and acquisitions on local labor markets. As a graduate student, Vitor was a research assistant on various projects based on large, restricted-access datasets from the US Census Bureau. He also interned at the Poverty Group of the World Bank in the summer of 2019. Before coming to the US to pursue his Ph.D., Vitor was an analyst at the Competition Advocacy Division in Brazil’s Ministry of Finance.
