In our feature article, “The Outperformance Stock Unit: Meaningful Long-Term Incentives at Minimal Initial Expense,” Takis Makridis and Kyle McCall discuss the value of outperformance stock units (OPSUs) as an alternative to long-term incentive (LTI) programs.

With growing concern that LTI programs are becoming too homogenous and not working as well as they should be, OPSUs may offer better upsides. OPSUs can be granted when it’s most convenient for the company and work for more than just those in the C-suite while retaining existing LTI structures.
